In the two-year period of 2024–2025, Cam Ranh International Port has achieved remarkable success in its operations hosting international cruise ships.Leveraging its outstanding advantages in infrastructure and operational capacity, the international port is now aiming to become an impressive destination for the world’s leading five-star mega-yachts and luxury cruise liners.

IMPRESSIVE FIGURES: NEARLY 100,000 PASSENGERS AND CREW AFTER 9 YEARS OF OPERATION

The international cruise ship operations at Cam Ranh International Port continue to mark important milestones, affirming the capacity to receive large-scale and high-end cruise ships such as the Spectrum of the Seas – Asia’s largest mega-yacht (December 13, 2024); and simultaneously receiving two premium cruise ships, the Norwegian Spirit and the Seven Seas Explorer (February 14, 2025). The safe reception of these vessels has proven the modern operational capability of Cam Ranh International Port, creating a premise for hosting larger generations of ships in the future. This demonstrates the professional management and coordination ability of the Port and relevant authorities, affirming the appeal of Cam Ranh International Port to the luxury travel segment. From October 2024 to the end of 2025, Cam Ranh International Port is projected to serve over 50,000 crew members and passengers. Since 2016 until now, the Port has received a total of 42 ship calls, serving nearly 100,000 passengers and crew members.

BREAKTHROUGH WITH OVERNIGHT BERTHING SERVICES

Most recently, the cruise ship Piano Land docked and berthed overnight at Cam Ranh International Port (from 12:00 PM on November 11 to 3:00 PM on November 12, 2025). This marks the first time a cruise ship has anchored and berthed overnight at Cam Ranh International Port, as well as in Khánh Hòa Province, to date.

The strategic significance of the ship’s overnight berthing is multi-faceted: it not only increases the time for passenger sightseeing and experiences but also contributes to enhancing the quality and diversifying tourism products, especially night-time tourism in Khánh Hòa. This achievement consequently elevates the position of Khánh Hòa tourism on the global marine tourism map.

A COMPLETE DESTINATION FOR ALL PASSENGERS

The outstanding advantage of Cam Ranh International Port is the ability for ships to dock directly at the pier. This entirely eliminates the risk and inconvenience of using tender boats for passenger transfer – a key factor that is especially crucial for five-star cruise ships arriving at the port, particularly during unfavorable weather conditions.

Children, the elderly, and passengers with mobility difficulties can board and disembark the ship safely, quickly, and conveniently.

A key characteristic of cruise tourism is that the majority of passengers are middle-aged and elderly guests. The direct docking capability ensures that absolute speed, safety, and convenience are provided for all demographics during boarding and disembarking. This is particularly vital for middle-aged, elderly passengers, or those with mobility difficulties (such as children or wheelchair users). Throughout the operational period, cruise ship arrivals have been organized thoughtfully, safely, and 100% on schedule, with no cancellations or delays recorded. Passengers have been able to board and disembark quickly and safely, even under adverse weather conditions, a factor highly praised by cruise lines and passengers alike.

Besides passenger safety during movement, the Port also ensures medical and fire prevention and fighting safety at the highest level. Thanks to the ship docking directly at the pier, ambulances and fire trucks are always on standby in the immediate pier area throughout the vessel’s stay. This enables the Port to be ready to handle emergencies and quickly transfer passengers or crew members with health issues to hospitals, guaranteeing the ‘golden hour’ for emergency treatment. These operations have been carried out numerous times and have received high commendation from clients, crew members, and ship agents.

AFFIRMING CENTRAL STATUS

With these advantages and potential, and according to information from cruise lines, many of the world’s largest and most modern international cruise ships have registered to call at Cam Ranh International Port from late 2025 through 2027. This confirms that Cam Ranh International Port is poised to soon become a central destination for international cruise ships in Vietnam and the region.

To prepare for this period of strong growth, the Port has coordinated with relevant authorities to complete the 100% clearance of aquaculture cages along the navigational channel and implemented electronic procedures for entry/exit permits to shorten processing time. Simultaneously, the Port is connecting with resorts in Bãi Dài and cultural tourism products in neighboring areas to diversify the experiences offered to cruise passengers.

Cam Ranh International Port has been making relentless efforts to be ready for a breakthrough period, contributing strongly to the development of island and marine tourism and the economy of Khánh Hòa province.
