“On the morning of November 21, Fleet 989 of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), including the amphibious landing ship 989 – Chang Bai Shan, the training ship 81 – Zheng He, and the training support ship 88 – Xiang Qian Jin 1, arrived at Cam Ranh International Port to commence a courtesy visit to Khánh Hòa Province from November 21 to 25. Colonel Nguyễn Minh Lành, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People’s Navy Region 4, presided over the welcoming ceremony for Fleet 989.
The visit of Fleet 989 came at a time when Việt Nam and China were preparing to conclude the Việt Nam–China People-to-People Exchange Year and commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, featuring many important foreign affairs activities. This visit concretizes the common understanding reached between the leaders of the Central Military Commissions and the Ministries of National Defense of Việt Nam and China regarding the enhancement of mutual military vessel visits. It aims to promote understanding, political trust, exchange, and contact between the naval forces of the two countries, thereby contributing to making the Việt Nam–China defense cooperation relationship increasingly substantive.”

In executing the mission to welcome the vessels, Cam Ranh International Port meticulously prepared services for the ships, particularly ensuring the safety of the vessels during berthing, anchoring, and departure. The logistics and technical services provided to the ships were assessed as swift, professional, and quality-assured, receiving high praise from the Foreign Relations Department, the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, the ship commanders, and relevant authorities.

Also during the period the vessels were anchored, Cam Ranh International Port welcomed two international cruise ships on November 23 and 24.The Port proactively managed the berth arrangement, ensuring security and safety, as well as convenience for crew members, sailors, and tourists. This demonstrated the professional management and coordination capabilities of the Port and relevant authorities, reaffirming Cam Ranh International Port’s attractiveness to the luxury tourist segment
